Volunteer Highlight-Marlo Busch!

Naval Services FamilyLine wouldn't be the great organization we have become without our Volunteers. Today we want to introduce you to Marlo Busch - our amazing COMPASS Administrator! Marlo has been a Navy spouse for 17 years. Early in her time as a Navy spouse, she recognized that she has a passion for helping others and has enjoyed volunteering her time to the Navy spouse community. Her volunteer career includes serving as the FRG President of the USS TUCSON for 4 years. As the FRG president, her primary focus was creating an environment that was inclusive for each and every spouse and significant other. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the FRG Board and Ombudsman in welcoming, mentoring, connecting, hosting events, helping the spouse team through the challenges they faced as a fast-paced seagoing command, and giving back to the Community.

In 2010, she took the COMPASS course and was amazed that such a wonderful program existed. She subsequently became a COMPASS mentor to give back to the Navy-wide spouse community. For the past 11 years, She has mentored five different COMPASS teams and served as a Team Lead and Mentor Trainer for four teams. For the past two and a half years, she has served as the COMPASS Administrator, providing materials and support for all COMPASS teams, keeping the curriculum up to date, and helping write the policy to bring the COMPASS program virtual for spouses around the world.

According to Marlo being a COMPASS Mentor has been a very rewarding experience. The impact she has made on fellow Navy spouses by sharing her experiences and knowledge is immeasurable. By doing so, she has empowered spouses and make connections and bonds between Navy spouses that stay with them for the rest of their lives!
