National Aviation Day

On August 19th, 1939 National Aviation Day was established by former president Franklin D. Roosevelt. He wanted the nation to celebrate the many advancements that were being made in aviation. National Aviation Day is also on Orville Wright's birthday! The Navy has an extensive history in the world of aviation.
