Celebrating African-American Sailors

As we approach the end of Black History Month, we wanted to share a little more about the MANY African Americans who played vital roles in US Navy history. From Edna Young, the first African American woman to enlist in the Navy, to Michelle Howard, the first African American woman to command a US Naval ship, and everyone in between, there is a rich history of African American accomplishments that have helped pave the way for the strong Navy we have today.
