National Anthem Day

National Anthem Day commemorates the day the United States adopted the Star Spangled Banner as its National Anthem! While serving and stationed at Georgetown Light Field Artillery during the War of 1812, Francis Scott Key, an attorney, traveled to Baltimore, Maryland to begin negotiations to release Dr. William Beane.
Key wrote the lyrics after having watched the British Navy attack for 25 hours after securing Beane's release, inspired by the events and seeing dawn arise with the country's flag waving.
